FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What is the goal of the March?

  • This march is the first step towards unifying our communities, grounded in new relationships, to create change from the grassroots level up. We call on all defenders of human rights and the planet to join us. We will not rest until all women have parity and equity at all levels of leadership in society. We work peacefully while recognizing there is no true peace without justice and equity for all.

What location and time does the Rally and March begin? When is it likely to end?

  • The rally will be held at Independence Ave and Third Street SW near the US Capitol. Click here for a downloadable map.
  • A rally is planned for 10:00am and the March begins at 1:00pm. It will likely end around 5:00pm. These start times will allow us to join other marchers from other states at the march site over a period of a few hours, rather than all of us trying to converge at the same time.
  • For security reasons, we will not release any further details about the march route until a later date.

Why is the March on 21st of January?

  • We are marching on the first day of the new administration to send a bold message that women's rights are human rights. This is not an anti-Trump protest or pro-Hillary event. Rather, the Women’s March will amplify all of our diverse voices in solidarity for human rights, particularly the rights of the most marginalized among us.

Is the March Inclusive? I do not identify as a woman. Is this March for me?

  • The teams of organizers and volunteers working for the March, are reflective of the diversity of our nation and will continue throughout our planning and organizing efforts. We are committed to a fully inclusive march based on the tenets of intersectional feminism. We are committed to ensuring that all people, particularly people of color, transgender and gender non-conforming folks, and folks from other marginalized populations feel safe and supported throughout the planning leading up to, during, and through our activities beyond the March. The Massachusetts State Leadership and Organizing Team is comprised of women of color, women born outside the United States, those who identify as gender fluid and members of the GLBTQIA community, women from different religious, professional, educational, and income backgrounds, and women from across the state.

Should I bring my children? My grandmother?
