The Women’s March on Washington-Massachusetts is committed to ensuring our contingent represents the beautiful diversity of our state. Through partnership building with community organizations, we are identifying women and allies who need financial support to be able to participate in this historic event.

Every dollar helps to increase equity and accessibility in the Women’s March on Washington.

$25: Supports organizing efforts to connect with women and allies in low-resource communities

$100: Subsidizes the cost of transportation for an individual

$200: Sponsors an individual to attend the March

$400: Supports a mother and daughter to participate together

$3000: Charters an entire bus trip for over 50 women and allies to make their voices heard

Please note funds will be used to support the participation of women and allies from under-resourced communities through subsidized and/or sponsored transportation.

How donations will be used

All funds raised for WoMaWaMa through the Women’s Fund of Western Massachusetts and generosity.com will be used to purchase bus tickets for women from diverse and resource-limited communities to travel to and from the March. Any funds remaining in our “Donor Advised Fund” after January 21st will be used for operating costs associated with the March and for efforts to achieve our long-term goals for women’s parity and equity. Bus ticket purchases are made possible through our strategic partnership with the Boston Chapter of NOW.

Partnerships

A significant aim in our work is to build coalitions and partnerships among Massachusetts organizations. Through working with mission-aligned non-profits in the state, we will identity participants who need financial support to be able to participate. By collaborating with partner organizations who serve these communities, we can ensure that funds are distributed to the populations who need them most. We are still negotiating the actual financial transactions (whether payments are distributed from our fund to a non-profit, who will then buy for tickets, or purchasing tickets directly from a bus company and giving those tickets to a non-profit). Rather than designing our own vetting methods to determine eligibility to receive funds, we will build off our coalitions that we hope to continue to grow past the March itself.

Sponsoring an individual

We do not have the organizational capacity to match donors with specific participants however we will report the number of participants sponsored through donations made to the Women’s Fund of Western Massachusetts and generosity.com. Our volunteer leaders soliciting and managing donations want to make sure you can see how your donation made a difference.
