WNY G & T Program - Memorial High School

Memorial High School offers many enrichment opportunities to it's 9th - 12th grade students including The STEAM Academy, Honors Classes, Advance Placement (AP) Courses, SUPA classes which provide college level credits to students through a partnership with Syracuse University, and a college level credits through a partnership with Kean University.

STEAM Academy

The STEAM Academy is designed to promote critical thinking, collaboration and creativity through project based learning. Students implement science, math, language arts, and technology content to design solutions to real world problems and manufacture a prototype. The academy will introduce students to skills that are essential to careers in the STEM field and expose them to programs through partnerships with NJIT and STEVENS Institute of Technology. The program combines a rigorous coursework with an intrinsic learning model that is geared towards student-led instruction.

Both West New York Middle School and Memorial High School have specific STEAM Academy Programs for those students that have a passion for engineering design and a strong academic record.

Students go through a selection process that includes an academic review as well as teacher recommendations.

STEAM After School Programs

There are various programs at all grade levels that promote 21 Century Skills through engineering design. There is no academic requirements for these programs just a desire to be part of a project or learn different technological skills.

Honors Classes, Advanced Placement (AP) Classes, and SUPA Classes

Syracuse University Project Advance (SUPA) is an educational program that provides high school students with the opportunity to take Syracuse University courses in their own schools during the regularly scheduled school day classes.

Partnerships with Kean University, New Jersey City University, Fairleigh Dickinson University, and Bergen Community College offer college credit courses to high school students as well.
