*The video also includes Text as an Element of Art. Although I agree with it's inclusion, it is not traditionally a part to the Elements of Art*
1) Line: A mark that has a beginning and end and can take many different forms along the way. To the left is a chart of all the different lines you can make!
2) Shape: A two dimmensional, enclosed space. Shapes can be geometric (like square, triangle, circle, etc) or organic. Below are some examples of each kind of shape.
3) Color: produced when light, striking an object, is reflected back to the eye. The three primary colors are the base for every other color. The primary colors are red, yellow, and blue. The secondary colors are made by mixing the primary colors.
Secondary Colors:
Red + Yellow= Orange
Yellow + Blue = Green
Blue + Red = Purple
The Warm Colors are Red YellowOrange and the Cool Colors are Blue GreenPurple.
Complementary Colors are the primary and secondary colors directly across from each other on the color wheel.
4) Value: The lightness or darkness of a color. Below is a value chart in black and white.
5) Form: A three-dimensional geometric figure. Spheres, cubes, cylinders, and cones are said to have form, to name a few. On the left is an example of a 3-D form.
6) Space: The distance/areas around, between, or within objects in an artwork. On the right is a chart explaining the different kinds of space in an artwork.
7) Texture: describes either the way a three-dimensional work actually feels when touched, or the visual "feel" of a two-dimensional work. Below are examples of images that have visual texture.
