Each year, our 6th graders incorporate their learning about Newton's Laws of Motion with a design challenge. It tests their creativity, imagination, and above all, perserverance! In teams, they will design and build a Rube Goldberg contraption that complicates an otherwise easy task. (Yes, you read that correctly!) We use every day materials, lots of tape and cardboard, toys, bouncy balls, coding robots, marbles, and anything else you can imagine to accomplish a task. Oh yes, and there is a time requirement as well! It must take AT LEAST 10 seconds from the start of the machine to the completion of the task! Check back here to see some examples of past projects along with projects we've found online.
