LET'S GET THE FACTS
Ancient Egyptians believed that when people died, their souls began a journey into the underworld. Waiting in judgment was Osiris, Lord of the Underworld. If Osiris decided that you had been a good person in life, he would reunite your body with your soul to spend eternity in paradise. In order for you to live forever, your body had to look just like it did while you were on earth so that your soul would recognize your body and rejoin it. It was the embalmer's job to perfectly preserve the bodies of the dead. The whole process of mummification took about 70 days and consisted of several steps. These steps are described below:
STEP ONE: The body is washed with Natron dissolved in water.
STEP TWO: A long cut is made along the left side of the body to remove the organs. The organs are removed and embalmed separately and placed in canopic jars. The heart, however, is left inside the body for use in the afterlife.
STEP THREE: A hooked instrument is used to pull the brain out of the head through the nose.
STEP FOUR: The body is soaked in Natron for 40 days to allow the natron to dry
STEP FIVE: After 40 days in Natron, the body is rubbed with oils. The body is then stuffed with sawdust and rags.
STEP SIX: False eyes and hair are added.
STEP SEVEN: The body is wrapped in 20 layers of linen bandages.
STEP EIGHT: Death mask was added

Choice 1: CREATE ANCIENT EGYPTIAN AMULETS OUT OF MODEL MAGIC
Amulets in ancient Egypt were little charms that offered protection. There were two kinds of amulets. One kind was made for the living, for daily life protection and encouragement. The other type was made for the dead, for mummified bodies. Both types of amulets were made of stone, metal, glass, clay, and faience (a ceramic material made from crushed quartz and other natural materials, covered with a blue or green glaze.) Some amulets were hand carved. Others were made using molds.
Your Job: Create 5 amulets from the list below using clay. Paint them and type a brief description about each amulet.
