FA Counselor are required to provide accurate data, often answers provided are not what the student wants to hear. The correct answers provided, could be deemed as not helpful.

FA Staff could attend customer services training to improve communication with students
The FAO currently relies on student staff to man the front desk and phones, student staff may not always provide accurate information. It is essential to have highly qualified and trained staff to help students understand the process and answer questions. The Financial Assistance Office has a significant need for a Full Time Staff member to cover the front office.
Analysis - FA Awards are announced to students in time to be helpful in college planning
FA Awarding jobs are run weekly and multiple time a week during peak times
FA Awarding at WNC is not completed until a student's FA file is complete. The late announcement of an award, could be due to the late submission of financial aid documents by students.
FA must test in PeopleSoft and have the appropriate bundles loaded to PeopleSoft prior to awarding. Lack of WNC FA technical staff can sometimes delay testing and set-up of new aid years, which delays awarding.

Improve the FAO's ability to test new PeopleSoft bundles. By one of the following:
Re-distribute work loads to allow appropriate testing for Aid Year rollovers to improve the office's ability provide early award information to students.
Hire a staff member dedicated only to FA Technical systems (PeopleSoft, OnBase, EdConnect, etc) to improve the ability to process and award students in a more efficient manner.
Notify students of the availability of their award letter or shopping sheet in their myWNC by sending them a text message.
