Absences will jeopardize the cast member’s participation in the show. Also, if a cast member is absent from a rehearsal within ten (10) days of the performance dates, without specific approval from the Director because of extenuating circumstances, he or she will not be performing in the show. Attending rehearsals is critical to his or her, and others self-confidence on stage.  Please let the production team know if there are schedule conflicts as soon as possible. Students are expected to attend all rehearsals they are called for unless prior approval has been given. Failure to do so can result in dismissal from the show.

SAMPLE of a  basic rehearsal (this was the schedule for one rehearsal of Seussical Kids!)

Blocking and Music Review is in the Music Ensemble Room

Dance is usually in the Cafeteria & Music Ensemble Room.  Breaks are taken in the Cafeteria or Playground.

Dismissal will be run like regular Car Line dismissal. You will not need to come into the building.

We will send your child out to your car in the regular car line formation.

Clarifications - Here is a breakdown of a typical Stars & Stripes schedule line.

EXAMPLE - 10:50 to 11:15 – - Blocking p 32/33 and Music Review pp 33-39 Be Prepared - Scar and All Hyenas

10:50 to 11:15 is the actual time that the cast member will be working on the listed music/dance/dialogue. They need to arrive at least 5 minutes before the start time (the first time listed) so they can start rehearsing at the listed start time.

Blocking p 32/33 and Music Review pp 33-39 this means that these particular pages are involved in that working session. Blocking is when the director works together with the actors and tells the actors when to move stage left or stage right, upstage or downstage, enter or exit, sit, stand, faint, and all the thousands of other moves actors can make.

Be Prepared - This is the particular song (on pp 33-39) that we will be working on during the listed time period.

Scar and All Hyenas - This is a listing of the characters that will be needed during that time period and on those pages. It is important to know what name your kid’s character has and what they are - for example, a bird villager, a hyena, etc. That way something like ‘All Hyenas’ can be listed instead of putting every hyena’s name on the list.

Casting Note: Casting and participation in Stars & Stripes Theatre productions is dependent upon attendance and the adherence to all policies (grades, behavior, etc.) outlined in the Student Handbook. Students must maintain a G average to participate in the play and that they can be removed at any time if their grade falls below.
