Afghanistan is experiencing extreme water shortages in many villages. Women and children fetch water from miles away, often in very harsh conditions. These children need to be at school and the women should be in the safety of their homes raising their families. Access to clean and safe water prevents these communities from water-borne diseases, keeps the children in school, and empowers women raise their families.
Please donate to help us build solar-powered water wells in communities facing severe water shortages. You can also sponsor a water well in your name, or the names of your loved ones which will create a Sadaqah Jariyah, a continuous charity that keeps giving.
We work with local mosque councils (Shuras) who know the challenges of their communities and to support the sustainment of the well for yeas to come. Locations of the water wells are normally chosen close to mosques and community centres in villages where both the local population and those attending the mosques and community centres can benefit from clean water.
Building a water well includes drilling up to 100 meters, pipes, pump, solar system, and a water reservoir.
When you donate to the water wells fund, you are helping the most vulnerable population.
