What Does Ms. Ceci Do?

My Framework

I follow the American School Counselor Association (ASCA) National Model to deliver a comprehensive school counseling program

  • Through this model I focus on 3 domains:

  1. Academic

  2. Career

  3. Social/Emotional Development

Services & Interventions

In order to serve the school community, the services & interventions I deliver as a school counselor are organized into different levels (Tiers) dependent on the need as modeled by the multi-tiered, multi-domain system of supports (MTMDSS) model.

Tier I: Core Program universal supports - All students (100%)

Such as national awareness weeks and celebrations (e.g. Red Ribbon Week, Mix It Up, The Great Kindness Challenge, etc.), conflict resolution programs, parent education programs, SEL support, and core curriculum classroom lessons

Tier II: Targeted Interventions - Some students (20%)

Students receiving this level of intervention are identified by data screening tools such as attendance rates and behavior. These interventions include small group counseling/instruction (social skills, friendship, study habits, anxiety, grief & loss, etc.,) or referral to interventions on campus.

Tier III: Intensive Interventions - Few students (5-10%)

These include crisis intervention counseling & short-term solution focused counseling to address life change events (divorce, death, imprisonment of parent, etc.) provided on a limited basis. If I feel a student needs a higher level of care than I can provide, an outside referral to community resources is initiated

*As a registered associate professional clinical counselor, I also provide therapy to students as a Tier III service (limited basis)
