Fun fact: 30%-40% of Spanish words have a related word in English.

For example:  bicicleta, parque, beísbol, vegetal, fruta, sofá, refrigerador, lámpara, televisión, matemáticas, copa, teléfono celular,  etc.

These words are often called cognates (los cognados). 

Bad news is... 👎

Not all words in either language are cognates. This sometimes makes language-learning difficult for some people.

Growing up speaking English makes English seem so...easy! 

But people learning English as a second language sometimes have struggles, just like a person learning Spanish as a second language.
