COMPUTER ESSENTIALS
COURSE DESCRIPTION:
This course will introduce students to the technological skills and concepts that are needed in today’s digital world. A variety of software, web-based applications, printed resources and, most importantly, the Internet will be used in class.
In this introductory course, students will be active learners who discover through the experience of hands-on instruction and project-based assignments:
Practice proper typing technique using various keyboarding applications and software
Organize, create, upload, download and share files and folders with Google Drive
Create and edit documents using Google Apps for Education: Docs, Sheets, Forms, and Slides
Responsibly use, interact and communicate via technology and social media
Understand concepts of Responsible Digital Citizenry - keeping information private, communicating appropriately, staying safe online, being a responsible user, producer and consumer of material found on the Internet.
Search for information efficiently; evaluate and properly cite resources
Explore careers and pathways for college and career planning
