COURSE DESCRIPTION:
Building Your Tomorrow is an elective course that will provide students with the opportunity to gain the skills necessary to build a better tomorrow for themselves. Students will learn how to become independent through self-awareness and improvement, career research, job search process, financial literacy, as well as learning about personal nutrition and cooking. In this introductory course, students will be active learners who discover through the experience of hands-on instruction and project-based assignments.

Understanding yourself by completing an interest inventory assessment
Reviewing careers that match personal interests
Google slides presentation of selected career
Finding and Applying for a Job
How to fill out a job application
Creating a resume and cover letter
Interviewing 101 – what to do and what not to do
Personal Finance
How to budget money (needs vs. wants)
How to balance a checkbook
Credit card usage and debt
Investing in stock
Nutrition & Wellness
Kitchen and food safety, kitchen tools and uses
Working as a team to manage time and create an edible product
Clean up responsibilities including cleaning dishes, countertops, and tables
Recipes include: cookies, pancakes, grilled cheese, and macaroni and cheese
All students must bring:
A fully-charged Chromebook.
One 1” binder with 5 tab dividers, loose leaf paper and a pen/pencil.
