COURSE DESCRIPTION: 

Advanced Computer Essentials is a dynamic Business Education elective that empowers students to take control of their future by developing essential college and career readiness skills. Through engaging, real-world activities, students will:

• Learn practical life skills such as teamwork, collaboration, communication, time management, responsibility, problem solving, and conflict resolution.
  
  

• Create a start-up business including product design, marketing, corporate social responsibility, and business communications.
  
  

• Explore career pathways and postsecondary options through self-assessments and guided research.
  
  

This course is designed to help students become confident, capable, and career-ready individuals—prepared to build a successful tomorrow, starting today.

TOPICS OF STUDY: 

Teamwork, Communication, and Interpersonal Skills 

• Work with a team to design, build, and test a free-standing spaghetti tower.  

Create A Business 

• Learn different forms of business ownership 

• Develop a start up business including a company newsletter 

• Design and develop your company’s product 

Marketing 

• Create and market your company’s product 

• Identify a target market

• Create a logo and slogan for your business

Business Communications 

• Create and deliver an elevator pitch 

• Research Corporate Social Responsibility

College Readiness  

• Learn how to use Naviance 

• Research different types of colleges  

• Understand the purpose of college and the various degrees offered.

SUPPLIES:

All students must bring (1) one 1” binder, 5 divider tabs, and a pen/pencil.
