Organizing: To structure Dr. R. E. Margo’s counseling program, the Counseling Advisory Council (CAC) initiated a comprehensive needs assessment. This process identified two priority areas for improvement: enhancing social awareness and strengthening self-management skills.
Planning: Based on the results, CAC members developed a strategy to enable counselors to deliver direct classroom instruction focused on (1) students’ ability to consider the perspectives of others and (2) their capacity to manage emotions, thoughts, and behaviors across various situations.
Designing: All CAC members collaborated to design age-appropriate lessons aimed at addressing these areas and improving student outcomes.
Implementing: Counselors facilitated guidance lessons through classroom rotations and collected pre- and post-assessment data to measure student learning. Supplemental lessons were also provided to teachers and students for reinforcement, as needed.
Evaluating: Counselors analyzed assessment data, confirming that significant student growth had occurred. These findings were presented to the CAC to guide ongoing program improvement and future planning.
