Purpose: The TSIA 2 is designed to assess college readiness in reading, writing, and mathematics for students enrolling in Texas public colleges and universities.
Sections:
English Language Arts and Reading (ELAR): Includes reading, writing, and an essay component.
Mathematics: Covers a range of topics including algebra, geometry, and data analysis.
Format:
Multiple-Choice Questions: Both the ELAR and Math sections contain multiple-choice questions.
Essay: The ELAR section includes an essay that evaluates the student's ability to communicate effectively in writing.
Adaptive Testing: The TSIA 2 is computer-adaptive, meaning the difficulty of the questions adjusts based on the test taker's performance.
Scoring:
College Readiness Classification (CRC): Scores determine if a student is ready for college-level coursework.
Diagnostic Profile: For students who do not meet the college readiness benchmarks, a diagnostic profile is provided to identify areas needing improvement.
Preparation:
Practice Tests: Available to help students familiarize themselves with the format and types of questions.
Study Resources: Various online and offline resources are available to assist in preparation.
Retakes: Students can retake the TSIA 2 if they do not meet the required scores for college readiness.
Validity: Scores from the TSIA 2 are valid for five years from the date of testing.
All students are required to complete TSI pre-assessment activity once, prior to first time testing.
