What is AP?
The College Board's Advanced Placement (AP) Program offers high school students the opportunity to take college-level courses and exams. Most U.S. colleges and universities grant credit or placement for qualifying AP exam scores.
Research by College Board shows that students who take AP courses:
Are better prepared academically for college-level work.
Are more likely to major in rigorous fields.
Tend to graduate college within four years.
Perform slightly better than peers who didn’t take AP courses.
Develop leadership, time management, critical thinking, and scholarly writing skills.
Are twice as likely to pursue advanced degrees (Ph.D., medicine, law).
We encourage you to explore the AP courses offered at WISD, which allow you to engage in college-level studies while still in high school. Enrollment is open to all students who meet the prerequisites outlined in the high school course guide. Contact your counselor for more information.
