TEMPERATURE CHECKS
Properly storing food at home helps maintain food safety, as well as food quality by keeping flavor, color, texture, and nutrients longer. To keep “cold foods cold”, it is important to make sure that refrigerators and freezers are set to the proper temperatures.
Refrigerators should be kept at 40 degrees or below. If your refrigerator does not have an internal temperature system, use a refrigerator thermometer.
Freezers should be kept at 0 degrees or below. Use a refrigerator thermometer.
Avoid placing thermometers near the door, as that is the spot that has the most temperature fluctuation. Place thermometers in the deeper parts of the refrigerator or freezer.
