Code of Conduct

The Phytochemical Society of North America is committed to providing a friendly, safe, and welcoming environment for all, regardless of gender, sexual orientation, disability, race, ethnicity, religion, national origin, or other protected characteristics. We expect all attendees, speakers, volunteers, organizers, venue staff, guests, and exhibitors to help us ensure a safe and positive conference experience in which participants can discover, examine critically, preserve, and transmit knowledge, wisdom, and values that will improve the quality of life for all. If you witness or experience conduct that violates this code, the conference staff will be available to help contact hotel/venue security or local law enforcement and otherwise assist those experiencing harassment, to enable them to feel safe for the duration of the conference. We value your attendance and want to make your experience as productive and professionally stimulating as possible.

The Phytochemical Society of North America is dedicated to the open sharing of scientific ideas by all members and conference attendees.  Thus, we support a respectful environment for all participants in this conference.  By attending, participants agree to:

1. Treat all participants with respect and without bias based on race, color, religion, sex, national origin, citizenship status, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, age, disability, or any other personal characteristic.

2. Refrain from photographing, recording, or videotaping individuals or materials/data during oral presentations and poster sessions, as well as making social media postings, without express consent from those individuals and/or the owners of the content. Violators may be asked to leave the session.

3. Abide by University of Wisconsin and venue rules, including policies for alcohol consumption.

Any concerns, including experiencing or witnessing harassment, should be reported to Conference staff (at registration or by email at conferences@union.wisc.edu) and/or Conference Organizers (Hiroshi Maeda, Sarah Whitcomb, Mike Sullivan, or William Hay). Violators of the Code of Conduct may be expelled from the meeting, forfeiting all registration and associated fees.
