The Center for the Improvement of Mentored Experiences in Research (CIMER) aims to support cultural change that values inclusive excellence through mentorship. Specifically, CIMER develops research-informed professional development workshops to help mentors and mentees across career stages and disciplines advance their mentorship practices.
The CIMER team leverages centralized evaluation to collect data on interventions, contributing to the study of evidence-based and culturally-responsive interventions. CIMER is housed within the Wisconsin Center for Education Research at the University of Wisconsin–Madison.
The CIMER Measure Library houses measures that are used by CIMER to evaluate professional development workshops focused on mentorship. This includes mentor and mentee training workshops based on the following CIMER Curricula: Culturally Aware Mentoring, Entering Mentoring, Entering Research, and Mentoring Up. More information can be found on the Curricula page of the CIMER website.
All measures have been developed either by CIMER staff or by CIMER partners who received support from CIMER. This library was created for the CIMER community. This includes facilitators, researchers, administrators, policy-creators, change-makers, and practitioners who are interested in using established measures to evaluate mentorship education programming and impact.
The scope of this library is limited to measures that CIMER uses for evaluation. As such, this library does not contain an exhaustive list of measures used to evaluate mentorship education programming or to assess mentoring relationships.
Library users are invited to incorporate the measures from this site into their own work. Supplementary documents are provided for each measure to ensure users have information on proper measure attribution and how CIMER uses the measure.
We invite you to use the measures and resources on this site as a starting point in your evaluation journey. Please reach out to our team with any questions at cimerassessment@wcer.wisc.edu.
