My name is Debbie Carew, I'm thrilled to be a mentor for this year's Grade 5 PYP Exhibition! As an advocate for the environment and sustainability, I'm passionate about encouraging students to think about global issues and embrace a more sustainable lifestyle. Together, we can empower our students to become responsible world citizens.
Hi, my name is Stella, I am in grade 5 and my PYP exhibition topic is desertification. I chose this topic because it has a lot of effects on the environment that most people don’t know about. When I first heard of this topic I was shocked to find that desertification affects Africa more than any continent in the world. But the thing that surprised me the most was how little people knew about it even though all of Namibia's land is at risk of desertification. Desertification is the process where land with greenery on it becomes unstable and dry.
Hi,My name is Enzisia Nangolo. I am 11 years old, lam in grade 5 and l can't wait to go to 6th grade in August and I will be turning 12 in July. I also like to play golf and lam an outgoing and adventrous person who enjoys traveling. l come from Cape Town, which is a beautiful place to relax and spend holidays. Whenever I feel sick, I visit my doctor called: Dr Paul Sinclair in Cape Town. The city has amazing views, and sometimes it reminds me of London. I want to learn more about poverty and access to healthcare because I've noticed that some people in my community get sick with things like the flu and tummy aches, and they even vomit at night. I've also heard that eating a South African porridge called Futurelife can help people stay healthy, and I find that interesting.

This Is My Interview with Dr Homer
“This is why your topic is so important. It teaches us about not only the threat of climate change and the things that we can do, or not do, to stop climate change. It also teaches us to manage our water” - Dr McDonald Homer, USAID Mission Director & Agriculture Expert
I interviewed Rudie
“Namibia is a semiarid country so we sometimes get insufficient rainfall. If you have a big population of wildlife and get little rain then overgrazing happens and desertification happens” - Rudie De Klerk, Mount Etjo Game Ranger
This is my interview with Frans
“We can not farm anymore, it’s because of climate change because every day it’s getting drier and drier. 3 years ago we used to farm but nowadays we can not” - Frans, Spitzkoppe Community Member
