Master your mountain biking skills in the stunning surrounds of Northern Thailand. This trip is designed for those who love physical adventure and the outdoors; whilst biking in the awe inspiring and secluded trails north of Chiang Mai is the backbone of this trip, there are plenty more physical activities in store. Begin your mornings with an (optional) 5k run, kayak through the mangroves of Sri Lanna National Park, race your friends across the inflatable obstacle course, zipline through the forest, climb the sticky waterfalls, dine at a floating restaurant and explore the caves of Chiang Dao. You will enjoy relaxing after a day of physical activity at the beautiful Le Cocotier resort where you will enjoy incredible homecooked, local cuisine. Additionally, you will enjoy an evening at Chiang Mai's night market and a visit to an elephant sanctuary. This well established Horizons Week trip is perfect for fitness enthusiasts and thrill seekers.

Students must be aged 16 or above to attend this trip.
Complete your PADI open water or advanced open water diving qualification off the beautiful shores of Puerto Galera. Accommodation is provided at the dive center and between dives students can enjoy the swimming pool and facilities at the resort.
Note: you must be a confident swimmer to attend this trip.

In a first for West Island School, and by popular demand, we are offering an immersive basketball and cultural experience as part of this year's Horizons Week programme. Home of the New York Knicks and the Brooklyn Nets, students will get to experience the Big Apple in all its glory.
There is a strong basketball culture in the school which was celebrated in September 2024 when WIS alumni and NBA player, David Muoka, returned to WIS and captivated staff and students with his basketballing prowess. The itinerary is not confirmed and is dependent on flights and the NBA schedule but will involve: training sessions in an NBA facility with professional coaches; attending a game at Madison Square Gardens; stadium tours and cultural sightseeing excursions.
If there is high demand for this trip, students who have shown commitment to WIS basketball will be prioritised. You should factor in the travel time and jet lag if selecting this trip.
