How we built our Prototype

Our phases of CBL

The Issue

We started by, as a class, coming up with many things that people have trouble accessing. It was like a class mind map. Then, we were assigned groups, and went about making our own mind map of a narrowed down barrier we decided on. Coming up with our barrier was the key thing to this whole project, because without it, we wouldn’t even have a product

Research and Define

After coming up with many ideas, we started to research and define our topic. Researching was a super important part of this project because we learned if our barrier can actually be improved upon, and then we found a client who relates to our barrier. We researched articles, and potentional clients like homeless shelters.

Ideate

After officially deciding on our topic, we made 40 ideas relating to our barrier to help our clients needs. Then we seeked feedback on faculty around the school, and pitched all the ideas to our client to see which one they would need the most help accessing.

Test, Iterate, Implement

We then started to build and 3D print, making multiple prototypes and testing them in order to build the best one. We tested the efficiency on the last prototype and took data. We took data by using a microscope to see how significantly different the before and after of a dirty cloth is.

Launch

The final step to our CBL project was      launching our last prototype, offically   launching our website, and noting how we can potentially expand our idea to an actual business. We launched our product at the CBL Community Forum. People such as teachers, faculty, and parents listened to us explaining how it works and them giving feedback on how we can improve upon our prototype. This was super important to the overall process of this project because it gave us a sense of how it would feel if we were to actually make our idea even bigger.
