The Beals Memorial Library is part of the CWMars Library System. You can search for books at Beals or any of the CWMars libraries (see the map).
Don't have a library card? No problem. Sign up for a Beals library card here.
Or you can sign up for an CWMars eCard here.
A library card gives you access to all print and digital materials. An eCard gives you access to only the digital materials (eBooks, audiobooks, databases, etc.)
WHAT'S NEXT?
Unsurprisingly, students have difficulty selecting a book to read. Even the best readers find themselves re-reading books rather than exploring new ones. When I talk with patrons about book recommendations, I begin by asking about the last book that they read that they really liked (or movie or TV show). Unfortunately, that's not an easy question for many. So, what can I (we) do about it?
Recommend books to students. Students, recommend books to teachers and friends.
Ask the librarian.
Consult one of many websites and databases that may help you find your next favorite book. Below are some examples.
Gnooks by Gnod: Add writers you like and get recommendations of other authors you might like. It's very easy to use, and it might be my favorite for finding something new. (Gnooks also has a music app that I highly recommend. It always finds the band that I suggest, and trust me, there are some weird ones that I listen to.)
What Should I Read Next: The title sort of gives it away. This one is also very simple to use. Type in a book title or author and it spits out some suggestions.
NoveList is an online database that is available through the Boston Public Library. Anyone over 13 can sign up for a free BPL e-Card that provides access to all of their databases.
