We’ll issue full kit lists closer to the trip, but here are few things you need to have in order to come of the trip.
These should be purpose made for snowsports and be insulated, windproof and waterproof or water resistant. You can add layers underneath these to keep you warmer if you need it, but this is the outer layer than protects you and keeps you warm and dry.
These don’t have to snowsports specific but they do need to be insulated, windproof and waterproof. If you get cold hands then you might also want to invest in some glove liners.
You will need some eye protection when skiing or snowboarding as the UV light reflecting off the snow can be damaging to your eyes. Whichever you take, they need to be shatter resistant in case you fall and potentially damage them.
Goggles offer the best protection as they also block out wind and snow, and if you are only taking one then I would recommend goggles.
Snowsports specific socks have padding in different areas depending on if they are for skiing or snowboarding. They keep your feet warm and prevent your boots from rubbing meaning you have much better trip so please invest in the proper socks!
Some suggestions of places where you can buy affordable snowsports equipment
Snowsports clothing doesn’t have to be expensive and there are lots of different options available from high street stores. Here are some suggestions to help you get started.
Both places sell snowsports equipment as part of their middle aisle deals and have included ski jackets, trouser, socks and gloves in the past.
Multiple brands are available from sports direct but the Nevica range offers very good value and includes ski jackets, trousers, socks, gloves and goggles.
Tk Maxx stocks lots of different brands, but it might not be available in your local store. You can view all the available gear on their website, and get it delivered to you local store from £1.99.
Decathlon is fantastic store for lots of outdoor gear including snowsports, but there are not any stores in Wiltshire. The nearest stores are in Poole, Southampton and Oxford if you are looking to try stuff on. Check out there own Wedze brand for some good quality but affordable gear.
If you already have some of your own equipment, this is what you can and can't bring on this trip.
If you already have your own ski or snowboard boots and a helmet then you can bring these to use instead of the rental gear.
Please note that there is no discount in the price if you bring some of your own equipment.
Due to limited space on the coach, we will not be able to allow participants to bring there own skis or snowboards.
Why buy when you can rent
There is an option to hire a ski jacket and trouser from the trip provider, Interski, for £30. This can be a good option if you are still growing or if this is your first trip and you don’t want to get too many things up front. Below is a video from Interski introducing their clothing rental.
