Adam J. Schultz is a graduate of Hoover High School (2001) and holds a Bachelor of Arts in Music Education from Jacksonville State University (2005).
Mr. Schultz began his teaching career in 2006 in Duplin County, North Carolina, serving as Director of Bands at E. E. Smith Middle School and James Kenan High School. In 2007, he joined Wilson County Schools as Director of Bands at Toisnot Middle School, where he taught until 2012.
From 2012 to 2025, Mr. Schultz served as Director of Bands at Elm City Middle School. During his tenure, he also taught chorus, general music, and orchestra, working to expand and strengthen the school’s overall music program.
Mr. Schultz has been involved with the Fike High School Band since 2008 as a marching band staff member. In 2025, he was named Director of Bands at Fike High School.
His professional affiliations include membership in Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia (Epsilon Nu Chapter, Spring 2001), the National Association for Music Education, and the North Carolina Bandmasters Association Eastern District.
Trevor J. Dildy is a graduate from Ralph L. Fike High School in Wilson NC (2010). He has a BS in Information and Computer Technology concentrating in Information security and a MS in Networking Technology concentrating on Cyber Security both from ECU. During his time at ECU he marched with the ECU Marching Pirates and performed in symphonic band and a local community band. During his free time he performs in a handbell choir at his church, performs in the Tar River Community Band out of Greenville NC, plays trumpet for fun and loves spending time with his wife and daughter. Trevor has been working with Fike Band since 2011.
Kailey Lawing is a graduate of South Point High School in Belmont, NC (2017) and is earning a B.S. in Sociology with a minor in Music at East Carolina University.
In Kailey’s 14 years of dance training, she primarily focused on classical ballet, but also learned jazz, tap, modern, character, and pom. She attended several ballet workshops and intensives at UNC School of the Arts, North Carolina Dance Theatre (now Charlotte Ballet), University of South Carolina, and University of Alabama.
Kailey joined her high school’s color guard in 2015; she continued to spin in college, where she was a member of the ECU Marching Pirates Color Guard from 2017 to 2021, serving as section leader in 2019 and 2021. She also participated in ECU’s winter guard in 2018. She began instructing in 2019 and has been the color guard instructor at Fike High School since 2022.
Outside of instructing color guard, Kailey enjoys playing flute, handbells, and carillon. She currently works at a daycare as an assistant teacher.

Rick Winders is a graduate of Campbell University, earning a major in Christian Studies in 2016. Rick has been the Fike Band Percussion Instructor since 2025.
