What is the difference in simply dual enrolling in Volunteer State courses at my home school and being a student at The Collegiate Academy?

Students must apply and be accepted into The Collegiate Academy. The Collegiate Academy plans to offer 9 Volunteer State Community College dual enrollment courses on TN Transfer Pathway at the Green Hill High School campus and strives to schedule its students in common cohort classes. In addition, The Collegiate Academy students will have more flexible scheduling, designated building space, its own logo and spirit wear, access to both high school and college events, recognition at graduation, and more!

Will Volunteer State Dual Enrollment classes transfer to any college?

Often accredited colleges accept credits from other accredited colleges. However, we recommend you check with your preferred college or university to verify they will accept Volunteer State credits. The 9 courses offered at Green Hill High School are included on the TN Transfer Pathway and will be accepted at any Tennessee public college or university. Many private Tennessee colleges and universities will accept these credits as well.

What's the difference in Advanced Placement (AP) classes and The Collegiate Academy's Dual Enrollment Classes?

Both types of courses offer students rigorous, college-level coursework. In order to receive college credit for AP classes, students must earn a qualifying score on the corresponding culminating AP exam. Colleges and universities vary in what is deemed a qualifying score on an AP test. (Check the website of your college of interest to determine its AP qualifying scores.) For students to receive a college credit in a dual enrollment course, however, students must simply pass the class.

Will Collegiate Academy students also be Volunteer State Community College students?

Yes. The Collegiate Academy's students will also be deemed Volunteer State Community College students and have access to the facilities, resources, and events at Volunteer State Community College.

Will I have the same classes as other students in my grade level in The Collegiate Academy?

We will strive to schedule all Volunteer State Community College classes with students in the same grade level in The Collegiate Academy so that students can work together as a cohort. However, scheduling conflicts may prevent this in some cases.

If I am struggling with the workload of my Volunteer State Community College courses, what services are available?

Students will have access to both Green Hill High School and Volunteer State Community College services. At Green Hill High School, students have access to the high school library and counseling center and administrators, teachers, and peers for support. At Volunteer State, students
