Core - Understanding power in politics
Thematic study 1: Rights and justice: human rights, justice, liberty and equality
Thematic study 2: Development and sustainability: development, sustainability, poverty, inequality
Thematic study 3: Peace and conflict: peace, conflict, violence, non-violence
Assessment:
External [80%]
Paper 1: Source-based questions that address topics from the global politics core in an integrated way. [20%] 1 hour 15 minutes
Paper 2: Two extended response questions from a choice of six based on content from the thematic studies. [30%] 1 hour 45 minutes
Paper 3: Stimulus-based questions to the HL extension related to selected global political challenges. [30%] 1 hour 30 minutes
Internal Assessment [20%]
Engagement project: A 2000 word written report on a political issue explored through engagement and research. [20%]
