Matthew R. Spradlin - Director of Bands
Mr. Spradlin is in his thirteenth year as Director of Bands at Wilmington High School after holding a similar position for three years in the Franklin City School District. He is a 2001 graduate of Miami University (Oxford, Ohio) where he received his Bachelor of Music Degree and received his Masters in Music Degree from Wright State University in 2015. In 2004 he was awarded an “Excellence in Teaching” award from the Area Progress Council of Warren County and in 2011 The Williams Award for Excellence in Teaching from the Wilmington Schools Foundation.
In addition to his role at Wilmington High School he frequently serves and Music Director/Conductor for the Wilmington College Theatre Department, has served as interim conductor of the Wright State University Concert Band, and as honor band guest conductor Mr. Spradlin stays active in the Ohio Music Education Association where he serves as an adjudicator, is a past District President, and serves in various leadership roles.
Mr. Spradlin’s ensemble have earned consistent superior ratings at district and state events, have performed at Disney World, Dixie Classic National Adjudicators Invitational, and the Ohio Music Education Association Professional Development Conference in 2009, 2011, and 2016. Mr. Spradlin holds professional memberships in the Ohio Music Education Association/National Foundation for Music Education, the College Band Directors National Association, the National Band Association, and Phi Bet Mu International Band Fraternity. Robin Spradlin - Middle School Band Director
Mrs. Spradlin is in her sixteenth year of teaching at Wilmington City Schools where she is the Middle School Band Director and assists with the high school concert and marching bands. She is a 2000 graduate of Miami University (Oxford, Ohio) where she earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education and has completed graduate studies at the University of Dayton. Mrs. Spradlin remains active as a performer on clarinet in various concert bands and musical orchestras. Ryan Bouts - Assistant Director - Marching Band/Percussion Instructor
Mr. Bouts is currently in his second year of teaching at Wilmington Middle School, where he teaches the 21st Century Skills course and has been on the Wilmington High School Marching Band staff since 2011. In addition to these responsibilities his teaches private lessons in percussion, directs the percussion ensemble and has served as an interim conductor with the Clinton County Community Band. Mr. Bouts is a 2010 graduate of Miami University (Oxford, Ohio) where he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education and is currently pursuing certification in Technology Education through the University of Dayton.
