Below are application and websites that we will use in 2nd grade! Please know that if you are looking to reinforce skills at home, you may choose and application or website to support this. Some of these applications we won't start using until specific units are taught. Please let me know if you have any questions regarding ipad apps and websites.
This app is filled with wonderful fiction and nonfiction books for kids to read. Epic is a virtual library for students that is free from 8am-4pm. We use Epic at school for independent reading. If your child is wanting to read on Epic after school, parents can pay a small monthly subscription fee for access.

RAZ kids
RAZ kids is an app that your child used in first grade at Central. RAZ allows teachers to set a reading level range for students. Students have access to both nonfiction and fiction books, and can even take mini comprehension quizzes after reading. RAZ kids is free at all times of the day.
Sora
Sora is the newest reading app to Wilmette. Last year, with remote learning, D39 decided to implement Sora. Sora acts as a virtual library where students can borrow, return, and renew books that D39 has purchased. There are a TON of wonderful books for students to read.
Capstone is filled with a large database of nonfiction texts. Capstone is very helpful when students are researching a specific topic. Students can search by topics or interests.
Students can play games to help work on basic addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division skills. Specific games target different skills. Below are some games that we use more frequently

Last year, students used Seesaw for assignments with remote learning. This year, we will still use Seesaw, but not as frequently.
Seesaw is an app that students can log into an do assignments. The tool is very user friendly. Typically by 2nd grade, students are very skilled at using Seesaw for learning.

Scootpad was new to D39 last school year that second grade students used. The app was developed by ACT, and
This app teaches students how to type, and offers games and activities that students enjoy.
