Dear Families,
Welcome! My name is Danielle Sonshine, and I will be your child’s fourth grade teacher for the 2024-2025 school year, and I could not be more excited. Fourth grade is a special and memorable school year where you will see your child learn and grow. I can’t wait to be a part of this journey with you!
To introduce myself, I grew up nearby in Northbrook. I started my career at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and earned an Elementary Education degree with a concentration in Language Arts. After graduation, I began teaching fourth grade in Libertyville. I taught both third and fourth grade in Libertyville for four consecutive years. In May of 2020, I earned my masters degree in Literacy Education (Reading Specialist) from Northeastern Illinois University. I finished my masters degree in May of 2020. I also recently obtained a Special Education Endorsement last school year. This is my fifth year teaching at Central School. At Central, I taught second grade for three years. I am so excited to be teaching fourth again this year!
My husband Nate and I have lived in Bucktown/Wicker Park for three years now. We love the neighborhood and enjoy walking the 606 trail and trying new restaurants.
Outside of school, I love fitness and being active. I enjoy running, and have run 2 marathons, but also really enjoy taking pilates classes. I love spending time with my family. My mom and her husband live in Northbrook, and my dad and sister both live nearby in Chicago.
Wilmette is a close-knit community that values education, and I am incredibly excited and thrilled to be teaching fourth grade at Central Elementary School. I look forward to partnering with you to ensure a successful and rich school experience for your fourth grader!
Warmly,
Ms. Danielle Sonshine
