The purpose of this website is to provide asynchronous professional development opportunities for Williston Basin School District #7 employees on a multitude of the digital education and academic technology tools that are available to you in our district!

If you remember The Digital Innovator Badge Project from a couple years ago, you'll be pleased to know that it is back and better than ever as the Digital Education & Academic Technology Micro-Credential Program (WAY more syllables! DEAT-McP for short).

If you are newish to the district (or just forgot), the DEAT-McP is a project designed to "flip" the Professional Development process and allow educators to monitor and celebrate professional learning. Once a staff member learns a new skill or strategy they submit an artifact demonstrating how they will impact students with this new knowledge. For their efforts, they will earn digital badges that represent the skill sets that make them a dynamic asset in the classroom. These badges can then be added to e-mail signatures, LinkedIn profiles, or anywhere the teacher chooses to show the world!

What is a Micro-Credential?

Micro-credentials certify that the holder has fulfilled the requirements to demonstrate proficiency in a specific skill or set of skills. Think of it like a credential, but...micro!

How do I earn a Micro-credential?

To earn a micro-credential, simply browse the different sections of this website and find a topic/resource that you would like to learn about. Click on the image of that specific badge and it will link you to what the badge is about, the criteria and evidence needed to earn the badge, and a link to submit your project. Submissions will be assessed according to the required evidence. If the project meets all of the criteria, the learner will be issued an open badge and they can display it wherever they please!

Who can earn a Micro-credential?

Anyone! Teachers, admins, support staff, etc. The idea behind a micro-credential is for someone to demonstrate a specific skill set that they would like to integrate into their craft. The badge is significant in celebrating the fact that an individual set out to better themselves within their field.

How many Coyote Credit "hours" is each Micro-credential worth?

At the bottom of each badge is a number. That number indicates approximately how long I think it would take the average learner to complete the micro-credential so that is the number of "hours" that it is worth. If you think I'm way off on any of my estimates, please let me know and it can be reviewed.

What types of micro-credentials can I earn?
