Getting Started
If you've been teaching since before 2020, there's a good chance that you're already used Google Meet enough for a lifetime! Although if you haven't used it much since then, I would encourage you to check out this 10-minute tutorial that covers a lot of features that have been added recently.
Teaching with Google Meet
Unsurprisingly, Google Meet and Google Classroom have been the most updated Google Apps over the last couple years. This includes ways that they work together! Using Google Meet through Google Classroom, you can:
Restrict access to only students
Prevent students from entering before a teacher
End the meeting when the teacher leaves
Control the chat box and screen sharing
Allow co-teachers to moderate
One of the more recent updates to Google Meet's integration in Google Classroom is making the process of generating your Meet link and displaying it for students even easier!
As much as we all love hearing from our students, one of the advantages of virtual teaching is the ability to mute them! Recent updates to the "Host Controls" allows for options like:
Disabling all non-teacher microphones
Disabling all non-teacher webcams
Prevent "chatting"
Prevent screen sharing
