Experience the Williamsville Teacher Center initiatives and learn how they can transform your classroom. Come find out about all the current teacher center opportunities the teacher center provides, along with available equipment. Come hear the successes of other teachers and attend small breakout sessions on how current in-services and case studies can assist you in the teaching and learning process this year and next. A sample of some of the best practices and instructional strategies that will be demonstrated during small breakout sessions that will keep you engaged and moving around to different rooms.

February 25th, February 27th and March 3rd, 2020

Get your students up and moving as you create interactive activities that help them understand vocabulary concepts or any other concepts you choose. Teach them how to create their own interactive activities to showcase learning using Scratch programming and Makey-Makeys.

*this course is appropriate for new users of Scratch as well as teachers already familiar with the basic principles

March 4th and 5th, 2020

Learn how to use Scratch programming to make animations that demonstrate a wide variety of examples of different types of figurative language (Simile, Metaphor, Hyperbole, Personification, Idioms) Your students will be able to create animations using their own ideas.

Try your hand at adding technology to your projects. Explore a variety of resource to enhance student learning. Examples include 3D cards that light up, wearable sewing projects with lights and/or sound, moving masterpieces, programmable instruments (piano, drums...) created from everyday objects, operabots, artbots, and dioramas with movement, sound, and lights, and more…

April 22nd, 29th and May 6th, 2020

Learn how to create curriculum projects that will literally add lights, sound, and more to student products. You will learn the basics of circuits and have fun using products like Squishy Circuits, Makey-Makey's, Makerbits, Crazy Circuits and Paper Circuits. Participants will make example products for their classrooms in order to apply this to their curriculum.
