HELPFUL SUGGESTIONS FROM FORMER FRESHMEN:
Get to know the different colors of each section of the school; the first number of the room is the floor number; be organized; use your free time, free periods, and all the resources wisely (library, guidance); Don't worry you won't get lost; make contacts with staff, connections with upperclassmen, go for opportunities, try new things - get your feet wet; Do your work, sports, and get some sleep; always do homework, don't skip, study every night; use frees, be careful when using social media, it can have a lasting effect ; be friendly, don't procrastinate, pay attention during class, relax; take time for yourself; don't let other people control your future; learn that you can't control everything.
Use WITS "My Resume" area to keep track of all your volunteer and service hours, you may forget some of the activities that you have been involved with by next year. Use the information from "My Resume" to create a professional resume for later use.
COUNSELOR NOTE: Students should plan to do something productive over the summers and vacation time, whether it is employment, volunteer work, pre-college programs, or participation in specialized camps in sports, arts, or sciences.
