The Math and Science Development Program is a club designed to provide peer tutoring to students who find they are in need of extra support in most math, science, or computer science courses. Students who are members of this club provide peer tutoring during their free mods throughout the school day.
A few things to keep in mind:
We are unable to fulfill requests for a specific tutor.
Peer tutors are not available for each subject every mod of every letter day. We hope to be able to work with as many students as possible that need additional support.
Peer tutors select the courses they are comfortable tutoring and provide details of their availability when they sign up. If you are signing up for 2 subjects, you will likely find that you have 2 different tutors assigned to you.
We do not offer drop in tutoring. You must be scheduled. All scheduling is handled through Mrs. Gilbert. The LINK TO APPLICATION FORM can be found on our club website page: MSDP Club Webpage
There is no cell phone use allowed during the school day with our bell to bell policy. Also, students do not have the ability to WITSmail other students. Students can share contact information (if they want to), but we will also use a shared google doc as a way for tutors and tutees to communicate cancellations due to unforeseen circumstances such as illness, making up an assessment with another teacher, or the library is closed. The tutor and tutee can access the document by logging into a school chromebook.
Tutors are required to keep a log for each session with a brief description of the material or assignment that was discussed. The tutor and tutee will be required to sign the form (intialing with a text box) at the end of each session to verify that the information is correct. This document is also shared with Mrs. Gilbert.
If you are looking for extra help we have several options available, please speak to your (or your student's) counselor.
