SUMMER Term

On our final sports day at WDPS, we made some magical memories - we raced our hearts out, threw with all our might, jumped like gazelles, and even beat our grown ups at tug of war! 

As part of our Design Technology unit, Sustainable Cities, we visited the Design Museum in Kensington. We were in awe of the building and the interesting artwork and exhibits inside. We attended a workshop where we handled a variety of different sustainable materials, which we then used to design different products, including toothbrushes and food packaging. On our way home, we stopped off at the adventure playground at Holland Park where we we saw sustainable design in practice, in the form of wooden equipment. We also saw lots of different plants and birds in the park, which was a lovely treat.  

Science is when we learn about how the world works through questioning, investigating and analysing. 

It is important to learn about how light affects our eyes and allows us to see different colours and objects.  

D&T is when we learn to plan, make and evaluate a product to solve a problem.

It is interesting to learn about sustainable cities because we can develop our understanding of how design can solve problems and contribute to a more sustainable future.

It is important to learn about how electricity works in our homes and how it varies depending on our actions.

Music is a subject where we learn about the art and science of sound, and where we learn to play different musical instruments (including our voices).

It is important to learn a skill that you can continue to develop and which also has many transferable skills.
