Disability Advocacy Club is a club on the Salem Willamette Campus that welcomes disabled people along with allies to come together to share experiences of being disabled. Projects bettering campus life and accessibility are done intermittently.
DAC has been meeting since 2019, and has continued its legacy of advocating for people with disabilities since.
My name is Caya Erickson (pictured above, middle front row) and while this website is going to be around long after I graduate, I initially created this in part of my senior project.
In high school I began experiencing chronic pain that stopped me from doing many of the things that I loved. I didn't know it at the time but I was grieving my past self and what the future could have looked like had I not had a chronic pain disorder.Â
I know first hand that learning about a disability can be hard, and I want to make sure that students at Willamette have access to resources to help them go through the process of grief and learn how to cope effectively.
