3rd-6th classes have been learning Spanish every Thursday for the past 10 weeks. We learned new words every week and it was definitely something to look forward to!
All the children involved in Matilda JNR. The Musical have been working very hard in the lead up to our show in The Solstice, Navan on the 24th & 25th June. Áine is choreographing all of the dances and Sharon is helping with the acts. Mrs. McCarthy and Ms. Dowd are teaching us the songs for the performance. 5th Class A & B visited the Active Retirement group in Wilkinstown Community Centre on Wednesday 9th April. They performed a selection of songs for them, including Go Lassie Go and Caledonia, accompanied by Ms. Maynes on the guitar and Darina (4th) on the harp. Danny, Aoibh and Helena also played some tunes.
5th Class A and B went to the RDS on the 4th March 2025. 5th Class A's question was 'Can we generate our own energy?'. They had lots of cool things showing how much better renewable energy is rather than non renewable energy. They also had posters showing how everything worked. 5th Class B's question was 'How do boats float?'. They made model boats and had all the science behind how they float. They also had some lovely posters to go with it.
Mrs McCarthy's LEGO Club has been using our new SPIKE Essential LEGO kits this term, with 5th Class B also completing weekly lessons. These kits help children learn about robotics and coding and how to work together in a team.
3rd & 4th Classes had a very exciting trip to Kells to watch the O'Carolan College Musical Mayhem Transition Year show. The TY students were seperated into 4 different shows called Shrek, Legally Blonde, A Chorus Line and The Wizard of Oz. The pupils really enjoyed this show and it was a great trip!
The goal of the Gardening Club is to create a more eco-friendly space in our school and to make a nice safe place for bees to pollinate. This term, the Gardening Club planted Sunflowers and made bee hotels with Ms. Maynes.
Pupils from our school were selected to take part in the Cumann na mBunscol Quiz in Bohermeen on Wednesday 15th of January. There were eight rounds and two teams. Both teams did really well!
Sorcha from the Irish Peatlands Conservation Council visited our classes on the 23rd of January to talk about biodiversity and the importance of protecting our ecosystems.
