The Student & Curriculum Support Committee helps make every child's potential a reality by enriching the educational experience through engaging academic, cultural, and extracurricular opportunities. From supporting the Wiley Band program, Cultural Arts program, and after-school clubs to coordinating the International Carnival and the National PTA Reflections program, these committees create meaningful experiences that inspire learning, creativity, and global awareness both inside and outside the classroom.

The Wiley 5th Grade Sneaker Ball is a fun end-of-year celebration honoring our graduating Wildcats before they head to middle school. Students dress up, lace up their favorite sneakers, and enjoy an afternoon of music, dancing, games, photos, treats, and special memories with their classmates. Hosted by the Wiley International PTA and dedicated parent volunteers, the Sneaker Ball is a memorable tradition that celebrates our 5th graders and the friendships they've built during their time at Wiley.
Wiley International’s PTA coordinates three six-week sessions of clubs throughout the school year. The clubs are administered by TEK which pays our teachers to lead the clubs. Recent clubs have included:
Chess Club
Lego Robotics Club, using FIRST Lego League’s award-winning curriculum
Soccer Club
Math Games Club
STEAM Stories Club
Crafty Creators Club
Chess Club offers important opportunities in the implementation of the United Nation's Sustainable Development Goals, including strengthening education, realizing gender equality and the empowerment of women and girls, fostering inclusion, tolerance, mutual understanding and respect.

Wiley International PTA engages guest speakers, artists in residence, and others to support Wiley's teachers, staff, and magnet theme.
The Cultural Arts committee attends the WCPSS cultural arts fair, applies for United Arts Wake County grants to fund events, and identifies and contracts with groups that provide cultural arts activities for our students.

The Wiley International Carnival is an annual event that is hosted by Wiley Elementary, showcasing Wiley’s cultural and foreign language offerings. The International Carnival committee assists Wiley Elementary's langauge and electives teachers in the logistics of the event, such as managing contracts for stage and A/V equipment rental, enlisting food donations, security community performers and volunteers, preparing communications about the event to the Wiley community, and securing volunteers as requested for the day of the event to assist with setup and cleanup.
Mathletes is a fun, engaging program designed to help students build confidence and fluency with multiplication facts. Through interactive practice and encouragement from trained volunteers, students strengthen their math skills while developing speed, accuracy, and confidence. The program is offered to all Wiley 3rd graders, as well as select 4th and 5th grade students who would benefit from additional multiplication practice, helping lay a strong foundation for future math success.
National PTA has a long-standing commitment to arts education. For over 50 years, Reflections has helped students explore their own thoughts, feelings and ideas, develop artistic literacy, increase confidence and find a love for learning. The Reflections program provides opportunities for recognition and access to the arts which boosts student confidence and success in the arts and in life.
Each year, hundreds of thousands of students in pre-K through grade 12 create original works of art in response to a student-created theme. Students submit in one or more of the available arts categories and, based on grade and/or support needs, participate in one of the program divisions.
Wiley International PTA proudly organizes an engaging Beginning Band and Continuing Band program for our 3rd, 4th, and 5th-grade students. Each band showcases its talent through on-campus performances throughout the year, while the Continuing Band also collaborates with Band alumni for community events. We invite students entering 3rd, 4th, or 5th grades to become a part of the Wiley Band family!
The band meets for practice two mornings each week before school, providing a convenient schedule for all. Plus, you can easily rent instruments!
We are incredibly fortunate to have the wonderfully talented Lisa Burn as our Band Director.
Beginning Band is held on Mondays and Wednesdays before school from 8 to 9 a.m.
Continuing Band is held on Tuesdays and Thursdays before school from 8 to 9 a.m.
Band costs are paid through tuition donations. The minimum tuition donation for the 2026-27 year is $520 per student (payable at once or by semester). Tuition donations are accepted by cash or check (made payable to Wiley International PTA, in “Memo” section indicate band tuition donation) or pay by credit card via this link, which requires an additional processing fee (kindly opt-in to offset this cost to the PTA).
Registration is now open for the 2026-27 school year, and will remain open through the start of band in September. Please register by completing this form and register early to allow for planning and budgeting for the year.
For more information, please contact the Ms. Burn, the Band Director, at wileyelementaryband@gmail.com or the Parent Band Liaisons at band@wileypta.org. If you are interested in learning more before registering, visit the Wiley Band website to learn about the instruments and complete an interest form.
