The School Support and Appreciation Committee oversees programs that strengthen our school community while supporting and celebrating our incredible teachers and staff. From coordinating the Room Parent Program and sustainability initiatives to organizing teacher appreciation efforts throughout the year, this committee helps ensure Wiley remains a welcoming, well-supported place for students, families, and educators alike.
If you would like to become involved in any of the programs below, please visit the Volunteer page to sign up!
The Room Parent Program was created to help parents better support teachers and to foster community among families in each classroom. Each Room Parent works closely with their child’s homeroom teacher and serves as the liaison to other parents and caregivers regarding classroom needs. For more information, visit the Room Parents page or contact room.parents@wileypta.org for more information.
The Sustainability Committee works towards improving Wiley’s environmental connections focusing on several of the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals:
#4 – Quality Education: Teaches students environmental responsibility and sustainability practices.
#11 – Sustainable Cities and Communities: Supports cleaner, more sustainable school and local environments.
#12 – Responsible Consumption and Production: Reduces waste sent to landfills and promotes sustainable waste management habits.
#13 – Climate Action, the committee seeks to develop a Sustainable Master Plan for the campus.
#14 – Life Below Water: Proper waste sorting helps prevent trash from entering waterways.
The committee's primary projects include the school composting program and the SHARE cart.
The Teacher Appreciation Committee and Chair produce various staff and teacher appreciation events throughout the year to let our teachers know how grateful we are for them, including at least two teacher appreciation luncheons or breakfasts and a gift card raffle.
