Our class uses Flexible Seating. Instead of traditional desks, you will see a wide variety of seating options, including standing tables, floor height tables, stools, stability balls, and more.

Students will be able to choose their own seat daily, and work in a location that suits them. Many supplies, such as markers, glue, etc., will be collected for community use. These will be stored in the classroom for all students to use as needed.

Students who do not choose a spot where they can focus or seating that they can sit on properly will be moved by the teacher to a permanent spot for that class, day, or year if need be. Miss Olson has final rule on seating and we spend a lot of time the first month going over how to properly choose and sit in each spot.

I am very excited about using flexible seating in our classroom this year. I know it might seem a little different from what you’re used to in a traditional classroom, but I believe it will help each student in our class be the best learner they can be.
