About Mrs. Olson:

Hello! I am Anna Olson AKA Mrs. Olson. This will be my eighth year teaching at Galva Elementary School. It will also be my nineth year tutoring for CATS Commitment and coaching girls' basketball. I am very excited to have each and every fourth grader this year and to be working with every family member that is involved in their lives. I believe that in order for a student to achieve academic success, both the teacher and families must work together in establishing high expectations, good morals, and having honest, real conversations that can be difficult. I am also wanting to bring a different type of learning that is creative and engaging for all students. I want to hear all students saying that they want to come back tomorrow to my classroom because only then are all students learning.

As for me, I was lucky enough to grow up in this wonderful community to two of the hardest working, greatest parents a girl could ever ask for, Jeff and Gail Olson. My dad works at the Kewanee Prison as an engineer and my mom works at The Galva Pharmacy as a Pharmacy Technician. Both sides of my family are from this area, and I am blessed to have many family members still in town.

After graduating high school at Galva, I attended Black Hawk East College and earned my Associates Degree. I then went to massage school and received my license to practice massage. After that, I decided I missed working with children so I went to Western Illinois University to earn my teaching license in Elementary Education with Middle School Endorsements in Social Studies, Language Arts, English, and Math.

I taught sixth grade right out of college and now I am in my third year of teaching fabulous fourth graders.

I am so excited for our year, and I hope that this site helps you from home so that we can all be a positive influence for these young growing minds of our future.

I encourage you to read through the rest of my website to get familiar with how this year will work, my beliefs and why I do certain things, and to know what will be available to you at home throughout the year (including links to important websites and much more.
