We are seeking nominations for the 2026-2027 PTSA board. All nominations are considered, so don't be shy! Nominate yourself, or someone you know (with their permission, of course) for any position. Traditionally, we post a slate of nominees in February, but we can take nominations up until the election in March. After March, we can still help you get in the loop if you email us!

Wilcox PTSA Board Positions

*President
Coordinates the work of officers and Committees of the association. Presides at all meetings of the association and Executive Board. Represents the unit at Council and district meetings. Performs other duties as may be prescribed in our bylaws or assigned by the association.
*1st VP / Volunteers
Maintains the volunteer group list within Sign-up Genius and sends out calls for volunteers for PTSA events & School activities which need volunteers or donations of items. Supports volunteer needs of Art & Wine Festival & Football Snack Shack Chairs. This can be a committee chair position, with committee members covering specific events when members are available.
*2nd VP / Membership & Direct Donations
Plans the annual membership & donation campaign. The membership chairman is responsible for creating and implementing a membership plan, promoting membership throughout the year, collecting dues & donations, and distributing membership cards using TOTEM. TOTEM is an online membership platform that can also collect donations simplifying the process.solicit and collect direct donations for the PTSA general fund. Encourage and track corporate matching and other donation sources.
*3rd VP - Senior Send-Off (SSO)
Plans the annual SSO celebration for graduating students. Manages the team of fundraising and event volunteers throughout the school year.
*Treasurer
Keeps an accurate record of all receipts and disbursements of money as authorized by the executive board and association meetings per PTA guidelines.
*Secretary
Keeps an accurate record of the proceedings of all meetings of the association and the Executive Board in a bound book which is the legal record of our PTA.
*Auditor
Audits the books and financial records of the association semiannually.
*Historian
Assembles and preserves a record of the activities, achievements and volunteer hours of the association.
Parliamentarian (not elected)
Appointed by the President to assist in meeting preparation if needed. Provides the members and the executive board with training on simple parliamentary procedures; how to state a motion, rules of debate, quorums.

Communications Chair
Responsible for maintaining communication channels with Wilcox administration, the Wilcox_Parents group and helping direct email traffic. Provide guidance to organizers of PTSA events about how to publicize their event through the various available channels. Create social media posts and broadcast as events arise.
Webmaster
Administers the WilcoxPTSA.org domain, maintains the content on the Wilcox PTSA websites and solicits updates from PTSA board members. Proactively updates from posts to Wilcox_Parent group. Parent Square and other social media posts etc.. Moderates the Wilcox_Parents Google group or delegates the role to another member. Helps board members transition accounts, reset passwords and set forwarding emails as needed.
Hospitality/Staff Luncheons Chair
Organizes three staff luncheons per school year (Back-to-School, Holiday, Teacher Appreciation Week) and other hospitality responsibilities if needed. Works with Volunteer coordinator for donations of food and help during the luncheons.
Ice Cream Social Chair
Organize the Freshman Orientation Ice Cream Social. This happens before school starts in mid August. Work with the Wilcox administration to get tables and teachers to help scoop during the event. Check the PTSA budget for the amount of funds approved for Ice Cream social supplies.
Reflections Chair
Inform students of the timeline and theme for the PTA Reflections art contest. Solicit entries and participation in the event. Arrange judging and recognition of participants through the council, district, state and National levels.
Mini-Grants Chair
Manages the PTSA mini-grant program for clubs and teachers. Determine deadlines, collect applications based on budget. Create a committee of PTSA board members to allocate the grants and coordinate processing funds with the PTSA Treasurer and School Bookkeeper.
Parent Education Chair
Inform the school community of upcoming parent education opportunities and community events. Arrange parent education events at Wilcox as budget and time permits.
Senior Send Off (SSO) Chair
Chairs committee to organize the Senior Send Off (graduation night) event at the end of the year. Committee manages fundraising, senior class council communication, PJ pant & ticket sales, marketing and overall event definition. Includes booking venue, food, drink, decorations, entertainment, event activities and managing volunteers. SSO is usually held on campus in the quad but other off campus options are available depending on what the graduating class wants.
Honorary Service Awards Chair
Organizes a committee to recognize deserving PTSA, school and community volunteers for outstanding service to children and youth in our community. Solicits potential honorees, arranges presentation of awards, keeps a record of awards in a permanent file. Presents awards near the end of the school year.
Scholarships Chair
Chairs committee to review online applications for the PTSA Scholarship for higher education.
Hospitality for Academic Awards Chair
Arrange simple decorations for Academic Awards. Purchase and arrange snacks for families and staff after Senior Award night as budget allows.
Bake Sales Chair
Organize Back-to-School night and Open House bake sales and other opportunities as they arise. Responsible for soliciting bake sale donations and collecting money. Funds raised are for the PTSA general fund.
Council Basket for SCUPTA Auction
Put together a gift basket to donate to the Santa Clara Unified Council PTA Scholarship auction in early December. Check the PTSA budget, usually $150 is set aside for the basket.
Basketball Snack Bar Chair (Position Inactive as of 2023 - basketball parents run it)
Work with the volunteer coordinator to find volunteers for the snack counter and food item donations. Ensure the snack shack is staffed. Chair is present at all games to man the booth, set up, take down, count money.
