Our American Government course provides a comprehensive study of the purposes, values, and issues that are involved with governing human society. As a required part of Michigan standards, and as the cornerstone of compulsory public education in the United States, the government or civics class is primarily focused on the ideas, values, structures, and functions of constitutional government of the United States of America. However, as an international school, we will look at the U.S. government from an international perspective understanding it in an historical context and as well as in comparison to other functional forms of government. Students will explore documents, concepts, and participate in the democratic process. The content of the course requires extensive research, presentations, debates, and searching for policy or incremental solutions to problems of society or the government.
