Term 3 Week 4
This week we will be reviewing and focusing on building fluency. The topic this week might be a bit challenging but I promise it's really interesting!
Term 3 Week 3
This week we are reading about the debate around Zoos. Are Zoos ok? Should we think more about whether we keep animals in Zoos or do you think we need Zoos? What do you think?
While reading, we will also be thinking about how to write our opinions. We will also be looking at important information and how to find the main idea in a text.
By the end of the term, you will be able to start writing a summary of a text.
Choose and complete one of each.

Kiaora parents
Thankyou to all parents who have checked in with me about reading. Some of our tamariki are new to reading Junior Journals or have only been reading them for a short time. So if they're a bit challenging we are spending a lot of time on new vocabulary, asking lots of questions and doing lots of checking understanding as we read. Children are more than welcome to take home their Junior Journals to read with you at home (as long as they come back the next day).
Each week they will have their reading group and a follow-up activity including spelling, comprehension and creative activities.
These two groups will officially become one group called Wheke (Octopus) and we will continue reading together as a whole group. They should all be very proud of themselves for stretching their reading so far this term! Ka pai tō mahi!
