It was a great relationship which began in the last years of Communism, grew through the early years of renewed Polish independence, and flowered as Poland became a solid economic and cultural member of the European Union.
Over those years, our many volunteers learned about Poland and its people on a person-to-person basis through its youth; and students had the opportunity to meet and interface with "real" Americans. Many students became friends, not only meeting at continuing summer programs, but also through letters and in some cases when a student visited relatives in the United States. Building these international relationships is always part of the WIESCO program.
Sincere thanks go the volunteers who participated in these many programs, and to the directors and staff of the school who were wonderful hosts over the decades. We wish the school all the best as it continues forward in advancing its educational programs.
