It is a 1 night camping trip with two days of action packed activities where pupils will develop their team building skills and develop their connectedness to nature. Two trips will run during July with letters being sent out during the Autumn term of year 7.
Approximate cost: £125 (financial assistance available to pupils who receive Free School Meals).

Boughton Woods is run by the Bushcraft Company and is an area of extensive woodland of oak, ash, beech and red cedar. It is located in Northamptonshire approximately 1hr 15mins from school. There is plenty of space for young people to immerse themselves in nature.

Pupils will need to be in school for 8:00am and head to the Gym where they will be registered. The coach will depart at 8.30am so we can arrive at camp by 10am.
We will return to AWS around 4.30pm on Day 2.
Mobile phones are not allowed on this trip. They can easily get lost and damaged whilst camping, but more importantly we want pupils to be able to immerse themselves in nature and spend quality time with their classmates. Staff will contact you in an emergency but no news is good news.
Pupils will do a range of activities which could include: camp craft, fire lighting, wilderness cookery, shelter building, team building, axe throwing, archery, first aid scenarios, team games.
Pupils will be in activity groups of around 12. These will be a mix of friendship groups to promote team building skills and will be decided with the Progress Leader in advance of the trip.
Each group will have a member of staff as their Team Leader to help support and encourage them during activities.
We want to challenge pupils to push themselves outside of their comfort zone but they will never be forced to do an activity if they are anxious.
They will need to stay with their activity group to help encourage and support their friends!
All food is provided by the Centre including lunch on Day 1. It is a nut free camp and they can cater for vegan, vegetarian, halal, gluten free, and dairy free diets.
An example of their menu can be found here.
Please ensure you complete any dietary requirements on the consent form when this is sent out.
The centre asks that pupils do not bring their own sweets/snacks etc. - these will attract ants in the tents!
Boughton Woods provides safari style tents which sleep up to 10 people. Pupils will be responsible for keeping their tent tidy!
Tent groups will be organised in the run up to the trip to ensure pupils are sharing with a couple of friends. However, they may also be sharing with pupils they are less familiar with, this is all part of getting to know people on the trip!
