I have been teaching in the West Hartford Public Schools for 20 years and am currently the vocal music teacher here at Wolcott Elementary School in West Hartford. Prior to coming to Wolcott 6 years ago, I taught at Morley School and Whiting Lane School.
I have Bachelor’s degrees in Music Education and Vocal Performance from the University of Connecticut and a Master’s degree in Music Education with an emphasis in Kodály from the Hartt School of Music. The Kodály philosophy of music education is using folk songs to teach music, along with learning based on sound before sight, similar to how children learn to speak a language prior to reading it.
I serve as a Director of the Hartford Youth Choir and have held the position of alto principal in New England’s professional chamber choir, VOCE, as well as Assistant Music Director of the Hartford Chorale.
I have two children. My son, Ben, just started his first real job out of college as a mechanical engineer. My daughter, Olivia, is a senior in college at Sacred Heart University studying exercise science. Mr. Chasse has a job in sales but loves to spend his time building cabinets and playing soccer and golf. The last member of our family is our dog, Rudy. He is a rescue who we think is about 12 years old. He is a good boy and loves to catch ice cubes and eat them.
