Here we will look at tips in order to get you organised and prepared to start your revision. It is important that you try to follow these tips to get the best start to your learning.
Leaving revision too late means you will have less time to complete the revision for your topics and make you feel stressed. Make a revision timetable and stick to it. Here is a link to a downloadable revision timetable that you can print and use.
Your work environment matters. Make sure your revision area is free from distractions such as TV, computer consoles and more importantly, your mobile phone. This will help you be more focused on your revision, and you will be less likely to make excuses not to revise.
Check with your teacher what topics you will be tested on. Revising material that will not be on the assessment will be a waste of time, and you may run out of time to revise for the topics
Research differs greatly on the optimum time to spend revising. Try 25 minutes and then take a 5 minute break. This is called the Pomodoro method. Your brain requires times to process the information you are trying to revise, so ensure that however long you revise for, you take those breaks.
Do not try to revise too late at night. The earlier you start your revision the better. This will leave you with free time. This free time can be used for relaxation and also gives your brain time to process the information that you have been revising.
